Larry Goldstein wanted to purchase a business instead of starting from scratch. But he knew he needed help to do it. “I had no prior experience owning a business,” he says. But after meeting with SCORE mentor Bob Cushman, Goldstein was prepared to take over an existing ink and toner supply business and help it thrive for years to come.

Vegas Ink and Toner is a print solution company offering more than 10,000 ink and toner cartridges, along with printer sales and service. Goldstein has owned the company, which was founded in 2007, since 2011.

My successes. 

“Revenue has grown consistently each year,” Goldstein says. “The decision to purchase the business with guidance from SCORE helped me understand my skills, develop future pro forma statements, and implement a sales and marketing program.”

Goldstein says his primary focus is customer satisfaction. “Every day we strive to achieve same-day delivery with optimal inventory levels, the expertise to help customers troubleshoot print problems, and [we’re] always working on sales and marketing to ensure growth.”

How SCORE helped. 

Goldstein attended workshops on real estate, business law, and financing, and met weekly with mentor Bob Cushman in SCORE’s Las Vegas office. “He helped me vet several opportunities to purchase a business, work through due diligence when the business to be purchased was determined, introduction to prospects and franchise issues,” Goldstein says.
