Who is eligible for free mentoring?

Our clients are entrepreneurs who are planning to open a new business, buy an existing business, or who are currently operating their own business. SCORE provides free mentoring without regard to ethnicity, age, or sexual orientation.

How do I arrange for SCORE mentoring?

Call (702) 388-6104 to schedule an appointment or submit your written request here: Meet A Mentor in Person

You will be contacted within two business days to schedule your appointment.

My business idea is confidential. Can SCORE counsel me without the risk of divulging my private information?

All SCORE mentors are committed to the confidentiality of client information. Each mentor signs the SCORE Ethics Agreement to support this pledge.

How do you assign a mentor to me?

Initial requests for counseling that are submitted through this website are routed to the counselor of choice. Or call 702 388-6104 to talk to someone who will help identify the appropriate mentor based on your business needs.

Is mentoring a one-shot process?

SCORE mentors will work with you for as long as you require their help building a long-term relationship.

Will I be pressured to buy goods or services that I might not want?

All SCORE mentors sign an Ethics Agreement pledging to stay fully independent for the benefit of the SCORE clients. SCORE volunteers are prohibited from any monetary arrangement involving any SCORE client.

Am I stuck with the one mentor you assign?

Absolutely not. Often we will assemble a small team of SCORE mentors to co-counsel, providing a range of backgrounds and perspectives.

Where will I meet my mentor?

Score Las Vegas counsels clients at a variety of locations throughout the greater Las Vegas area.  When you call for an appointment, our scheduler will work with you on finding a location that is convenient based on your schedule and location needs.  In addition, follow-up communication with your assigned mentor is often by phone and e-mail.

Can SCORE counsel me through email?

Certainly. SCORE mentors can contact clients through email, phone or in person based on the needs of our clients.

What qualifies SCORE mentors to give business advice?

SCORE volunteers are all experienced in the real business world. They utilize their experiences as business owners, corporate executives, and business professionals to help guide you to success.

Are SCORE mentors current with the world of business today?

SCORE volunteers have chosen to give back to their community and to help others achieve success. Our volunteers remain active and engaged in the business community to help their clients. A substantial portion of our membership is comprised of business people who are still active in their careers.

Does SCORE offer services besides counseling/mentoring?

Yes. SCORE Las Vegas proves in a diverse array of high-quality business seminars to help our clients increase their skills and knowledge. To learn more about our upcoming seminar calendar click here.

How can you provide these services for free?

SCORE Las Vegas is the local chapter of a national non-profit organization. Our local capabilities are primarily driven by our excellent volunteers. Our workshops are very popular and provide some financial support. Additionally, we receive funding from our outstanding local donors, the SCORE National organization, and from the federal Small Business Administration.

Is SCORE part of the SBA?

No, SCORE is an independent non-profit organization. We are resource partners with the federal Small Business Administration (SBA). We work together with the SBA to help small businesses find the financing they need and to provide ongoing support to local small businesses.

What do I stand to lose by trying SCORE counseling/ mentoring?

Very little, of course. It’s free and we believe we can make a tremendous difference in your future. SCORE volunteers bring their skills and experience to the local community because they want to make a difference, and we are committed to your success.
